Does anyone remember the spanking machine? I’m pretty sure we even had the spanking machine at school. If you lost a game, everyone would line up and you’d have to crawl between people’s legs as they smacked you on the behind. Can you imagine if that was still a thing?
Anyhow, I’m not recommending the therapeutic benefits of a spanking machine for ANYTHING speech related. After writing about outdoor games for speech therapy last week, I received a few messages from readers asking about the stimulus cards I use in SPUD and statue maker. When I need visuals for these games, I’ve usually just quickly written them out on a sticky note. But I thought it might be fun to make up a set of cards as a freebie gift for my fellow speech language pathologists who are working over the summer-or who maybe want to try to push into physical education. Has anyone ever tried that? I think it could be fun-but I’m also remembering the phy ed of my youth-which was much more about group games like “Ships across the Ocean” and listening to the “Chicken fat song”.
This freebie contains 48 cards for the games statue maker and SPUD and directions for each game. If you play them, I’d love to hear how it went!
