Are you one of those unfortunate SLPs who are stuck in a closet? I actually spent a half a year in an ACTUAL supply closet. Admittedly it was a decent sized long closet-but it’s a little disheartening to do therapy next to the paper plates and toilet paper. Especially when the only chairs you have are broken office chairs that your students seem to find even when you try to hide them at the end of the closet behind some boxes of cheerleading equipment.
If you are in a closet-or a windowless room in the middle of the school, then for once you are in luck! EZ tracer was designed for artists to make smaller designs larger. You can purchase EZ tracers or similar products online or at a craft or art supply store. It was designed to help artists trace a smaller piece of artwork onto a bigger canvass.
We don’t really care about that though. Here is what is awesome. You can project anything you want onto your wall. I tried to get some good pictures of this-but it is HARD to take awesome photos in the dark. Hope you can make out what is going on in these. In real life, it will seem much clearer.
It’s great for articulation practice.
Sometimes it’s more fun to see your favorite speech cards when they are up on the wall. We can work on carryover by adjusting where the projector is played. We can make the pictures little or big, or make them go up and down by moving the projector. This is a pretty awesome carrier phrase activity or sentence expansion activity. For example, I could say: girl up, girl down, girl shake, girl get small, girl get bigger etc. If I was working on sentence expansion, I might have them work on sentences such as ” The girl raising her hand is getting smaller.”
Here’s another cool think about tracing projectors. You can put actual objects underneath the projector. Small action figures fit underneath it.
Pretty cool, right? We can make Batman fly, make him big or little or have the client go over and identify different parts (for example, Touch Batman’s head.) How would you use an EZ tracer, I’d love to hear about it below!
Disclosure statement: I did not receive any compensation or free products to review this item. It’s just something I think is awesome and wanted to share with you!

I share your closet nightmares! I was in a closet for several years in the mid eighties and I shared the space with two other teachers! Yuck…it was gross! I have a pretty little room now! I love it!
