I’m pretty excited for my next giveaway. Cariboo is one of my favorite games to use in therapy. I was lucky to find this version of Cariboo at my local Goodwill. It’s in really good condition.
Are you wondering what makes Speech Language Pathologists drool over Cariboo? It is a great game to use when you are working on any type of drill activity.
The game comes with 6 balls. You put them in the top holes and then use the purple key to open the doors. If there is a ball there, you take it out and put it in a hole on the side by the treasure chest. Find all 6 balls and the treasure chest opens to reveal a jewel.
Here are some of the things you can do with the actual game:
- Matching
- Numbers
- Colors
- Some object naming
It’s fun to use with younger students or students and work on saying “ball” or “no ball.” You can take the jewel out and put a piece of candy in the treasure chest for a fun reward. One of the best things to do is to make your own cards. This gives you so many other options.
- Receptive identification-put in pictures of places, people, or objects and have students identify the pictures. You could also work on things like object functions, identifying by categories etc.
- Work on vocabulary skills by having students name the pictures.
- Work on answer wh questions by putting a variety of objects/places/times and have the student find the picture.
- Work on fluency practice.
- Work on articulation practice by using pictured artic words.
